Pixação: Resistance and Rebellion

June 27th - August 31st, 2025

Pixação emerged from São Paulo’s peripheries in the late 1980s, a striking urban intervention defined by straight, angular tags. Far beyond mere vandalism, it stands as a raw declaration of existence by marginalised youth, defying segregation and social exclusion. Executed through daring techniques—spray paint, rollers, rappelling, and climbing—pixação challenges societal norms and the city’s divided architecture. Learn more.

Pixação: Film Screening

August 30th and 31st, 2025

During the closing weekend of the exhibition Pixação: Resistance and Rebellion, you can watch the documentary PIXO by João Wainer and Roberto T. Oliveira. This film explores the urban impact and cultural movement of Pixação. The documentary has a runtime of 60 minutes and starts every hour on the hour. Language: Portuguese, English subtitles. The screening is free to attend with a regular museum admission ticket. This screening is made possible by the AFK.
