STRAAT Museum presents Brazilian Soul, an exhibition originating from São Paulo’s renowned international street art festival, NALATA. Showcasing large-scale artworks by influential Brazilian artists, this exhibition captures the vibrant spirit and powerful urban legacy that NALATA has established in São Paulo’s public spaces.
NALATA
Over the past five years, the NALATA Festival has gained recognition for its commitment to urban transformation and the democratization of art, establishing itself as one of Latin America’s leading art festivals. With more than 64 artworks installed throughout São Paulo, it has left a significant legacy in the city—redefining public space by creating a vast open-air museum showcasing works by both national and international graffiti and street artists.
Casa NALATAxSTRAAT
In 2024 NALATA partnered with STRAAT Museum—by presenting a pop-up version of the museum in São Paulo. Casa NALATAxSTRAAT featured works by forty Brazilian artists.
This collaboration continues in Amsterdam with a special exhibition at STRAAT. NALATA curator Luan Cardoso has selected ten artists from previous editions of the festival. Dolores Esos, Mag Magrela, Pri Barbosa, Deco Treco, Enivo, Lobot, and Mundano will present works previously shown at Casa NALATAxSTRAAT. In addition, Speto and Tinho will create site-specific pieces directly in the museum, and Zéh Palito will exhibit his inflatable sculpture Banana Cósmica (2025) during the exhibition’s opening weekend.
About the Exhibition
The exhibition offers an opportunity to experience works by diverse voices from Brazil’s vibrant street art scene—one of the most influential centers of this global movement. It brings together artists from different regions, generations, and styles, exploring themes such as identity, the body, territory, social critique, and spirituality. Brazilian Soul is a visual celebration of Brazil’s multifaceted and evolving spirit, highlighting artists who transform public space into powerful sites of expression, resistance, and imagination.
