SUSO33

(Spain)

SUSO33, an international graffiti artist and urban creator since 1984, stands out for his focus on painting in movement, reflecting gesture and the imprint of the body. He has experimented with muralism, performance, installations, video and new technologies, as well as curating exhibitions. His work, ephemeral in the street or in nature, honors the memory of spaces and inhabitants.

“Architecture is the artistic support of our cultural evolution. From the first autonomous, human-sized graffiti to giant commissioned murals, the city is my stage. Today, urban art relies on social media for its dissemination, transforming its meaning with each shared photo like telegraffiti. The physical and digital duality allows us to appreciate work from different perspectives: in person or by flipping the work on your mobile screen. This dichotomy raises a question: are the barriers physical or human? Cities are big, but even bigger are the people who fill them with life and color.” / SUSO33

This artwork was created for our DUO exhibition. This exhibition was conceived by SUSO33 in collaboration with Santiago Herrero, director of Cultural and Scientific Relations for the Spanish Agency for International Development & Cooperation. The exhibition has been carefully curated by SUSO33 and STRAAT's head curator, David Roos. Click here for more info on DUO.

Mick La Rock (NL) and SUSO33 (ESP) discuss their contributions to DUO. Mick and SUSO worked side by side to each create a piece for the theme Architectural Styles.
