Anthony Garcia Sr. was born and raised in Denver, Colorado, more specifically in the Globeville community. His artistic style incorporates traditional Chicano motifs and celebrates the complex duality of living as a US Citizen who is also Chicano. His aesthetic pays homage to cultural, geographical, and historical contexts through the implementation of modern techniques and exploration of pop trends.
“In my style I often reference the Serape blanket of the South West United States, which represents sunlight, fire, and light. This particular piece represents the rising sun. I think the scale alone makes it very impactful. I have never painted something this intricate this large. Being here inspired me to think out of the box and try something I hadn’t done before. Hopefully, I can inspire the next generation of leaders within my community that way.” / Anthony Garcia Sr.
