Close to you is inspired by Eva Simons’ life story and eponymous track. After a period of international success, she found herself on the edge of the abyss. She eventually resurrected through her first pregnancy. Close to you is part of the Music & Murals series, in which Studio Giftig finds inspiration in the repertoire of the biggest musicians in the Netherlands.
Studio Giftig consists of the Dutch artist duo Niels van Swaemen and Kaspar van Leek. They met in 2007, at a time when both artists had been actively involved in street art for a while. In the following years, the duo would develop a collective painting style and found fame through their highly-detailed (sur)realistic murals. With Close to you, they are responsible for the biggest canvas ever painted at STRAAT.
