Snik painting Escape Straat international street art museum

Snik

(UK, 1984 / 1991)

The artist duo Snik specializes in hand-cut stencils to study the use of light and shadow. They often portray delicate female figures, either hovering or falling, focusing on the idea of capturing motion.

“This is one of the most technical pieces we have ever done. It is also one of the loosest pieces we have ever done as we did a lot of free-hand painting. We relied less on stencils, and used more shading. There is a lot more composition, and more thought is put into how and where she is laid out.” / Snik
