Snik

(UK, 1984 / 1991)

The artist duo Snik specializes in hand-cut stencils to study the use of light and shadow. They often portray delicate female figures, either hovering or falling, focusing on the idea of capturing motion.

β€œThis is one of the most technical pieces we have ever done. It is also one of the loosest pieces we have ever done as we did a lot of free-hand painting. We relied less on stencils, and used more shading. There is a lot more composition, and more thought is put into how and where she is laid out.” / Snik
