Ryol

Laksamana Ryo a.k.a Ryol is a visual artist with a strong focus on pop culture. He cites his childhood years as his biggest influence. He thanks his parents and Sunday’s cartoon TV programs for being the ‘early stage’ that unconsciously transformed him into the artist he is now. He works in complete freedom but with a strong sense of responsibility.

“Painting is my lifetime’s job. I never want it to end. I still have a big dream to become an artist who left a trace of history in my era. This is an artwork about peace. The little boy holding the dead bird is my artistic response to what’s currently happening in the world. The beautiful background consciously contrasts with this scene.”
