Mohamed L'Ghacham
(Morocco)
Mohamed L'Ghacham's work pays tribute to the small, 'normal', recognizable things in life. By painting them on a large surface, he gives these moments more emphasis and importance. Moha never names who he paints in his artwork, as he wants the audience to be able to connect with their own youth and cherished personal memories.
Mohamed started graffiti as a teenager with friends from high school. He soon discovered that his letters were not very strong, but that he was better at painting characters. Analog photography has always inspired him throughout his life, precisely because of the 'errors' in the images. Analog photography, unlike its digital counterpart, gives a much rawer and more pure feeling. With the approach 'less is more', he tries to convey this analog photography as best as possible with his paintings.
