STRAAT Museum x Women In Street Art Weekend

STRAAT presents first Women In Street Art Weekend

PRESS RELEASE

Amsterdam, May 7, 2026

Three days of spotlighting female street artists with live painting, workshops, a panel discussion and more

From Friday to Sunday, June 5 to 7, 2026, STRAAT Museum will host the very first Women In Street Art Weekend (WISA). This three-day event places the strength, visibility and diversity of female street artists centre stage. Through a dynamic programme featuring live painting, free workshops, guided tours and a closing panel discussion, STRAAT provides a platform for artists who have been contributing innovative perspectives to a traditionally male-dominated scene for decades.

A festival atmosphere with space for connection and inspiration
Throughout the weekend, STRAAT will transform into a vibrant and accessible environment where art, music and social interaction come together. Visitors are actively invited to participate, from joining free guided tours highlighting works by female artists to attending graffiti workshops and live painting sessions.

Visibility and representation
STRAAT and its partner ABN AMRO have been committed to inclusivity and the representation of women in the art world for many years. The Women In Street Art Weekend further underlines this commitment, a dedication that is also reflected in STRAAT’s collection, where 30% of the works are created by female artists. The event not only provides a platform for established and emerging women artists, but also serves as a source of inspiration for new generations. At the same time, it creates space for connection within the international street art community.

The weekend opens at 17:00 with an evening programme of art and music. Visitors can enjoy a live set by DJ Zoë Janice while a live painting session takes place. At 18:30, a free guided tour led by a female guide will begin, highlighting works by female artists. Drinks and snacks will be available.

Saturday June 6 | 11:30 – 17:00
Saturday focuses on interaction and participation. Free guided tours take place at 12:00, 13:30 and 15:00, and graffiti workshops at 11:30 and 13:30. Live painting sessions run throughout the day. Children can get creative with a colouring page (based on a work by a female street artist) or take part in the STRAAT treasure hunt. Food, drinks and music are available on site.

Sunday June 7 | 11:30 – 17:00
The final day includes free guided tours at 12:00 and 13:30 and free graffiti workshops at 11:30 and 13:30. Live painting continues until 14:30, followed by a panel discussion from 15:00 to 16:00. During this session, multiple generations of female street artists—Claudia Cosma aka CC, Dalal Mitwally, Butterfingaz and Anouk Brand—will engage in conversation, moderated by Dionne Verwey, discussing their experiences, challenges and the evolution of the scene. Activities for children, as well as music and catering, will also be available throughout the day.
