Time Lines

For the renovation of Schiphol’s central public transport hub, STRAAT Museum developed a temporary experience designed to enhance travelers’ journeys throughout the construction period. The renovation, running to October 2027, spans a 690-meter stretch surrounding the construction site.
Time as movement
Time Lines is a dynamic hybrid of digital imagery and live street art that transforms Schiphol’s construction barriers into a living tapestry of interconnected journeys. Inspired by the idea of the art painter Paul Klee that “a line is a dot that went for a walk,” the work visualizes time as movement—each traveler a dot, each life a line—woven together within one of the world’s busiest transit environments.

Five international street artists
Bringing together artists at different stages of their careers, Time Lines fosters a dialogue between emerging and established voices, offering rising talent the opportunity to present their work on a major international stage. The project is an interwoven collaboration among five international artists, each offering a distinct perspective on the diverse flow of people and stories moving through this global hub.

Rhythmic abstraction
Jelmer Konjo is a visual artist and muralist whose work combines bold graphic language with vibrant, street-inspired energy. His dynamic compositions draw on the textures and rhythms of urban life, balancing abstraction with play and narrative.
"For Time Lines, I want to take viewers back to childhood—when every moment felt full of possibility and even setbacks turned into adventures. Through bright colors, bold shapes, and rhythmic abstraction, I aim to reignite that playful, boundless spirit."

Dynamic composition
Kevin Ledo is a Montreal-based artist known for merging realism, abstraction, and graphic design. His large-scale portraits are layered with geometric patterns and abstract forms, creating a compelling dialogue between the human figure and ornamentation.
"My design evokes movement and rekindles cherished memories for airport visitors. Intersecting lines of vibrant colour and heartfelt figures create a dynamic composition that invites travelers to pause, reflect, and reconnect with meaningful moments beyond the rush of travel."

The spirit of movement
Bianca Nemelc is a New York–based artist exploring the relationship between the human figure and the natural world. Her work blends fragmented forms with landscapes, using warm palettes and fluid compositions to reflect identity, heritage, and connection to nature.
"I approached this project through the lens of nature—from migrating birds and flowers bending toward the light, to a breeze carrying a butterfly across distances. Each section uses color and shape to capture the passage of time and evoke the spirit of movement."

Dreamlike scenery
Eloise Gillow creates figurative works that combine classical painting techniques with contemporary narratives. Her compositions focus on human connection and introspection, using soft light and muted tones to evoke intimacy and emotional depth.
"Two figures traverse an imagined landscape, each on their own journey, occasionally crossing paths. With faces obscured, viewers are invited to imagine their stories and emotions, expressed through body language and subtle gestures against the vast, dreamlike scenery."

Typographical visuals
Pref is renowned for his innovative typographic works, layering words and phrases into complex visual compositions. His practice challenges perception and readability, transforming language into bold, graphic puzzles.
"Life is made up of meetings and partings. That is the way of it. The airport sees many ‘Hi’s’ and ‘Bye’s’ every day. For this project, I created a range of typographical visuals to weave and connect the narratives of the other artists."

More than a static installation
Like time itself, the artwork is never static. The five street artists will return over the course of two years to expand and evolve their works through edits and new interventions, continuously enriching the visual landscape.
