(Mexico, 1986)Theft and love
( 2018 )now on view
While inspired by European masters like Michelangelo, Rembrandt and van Gogh, the work of Farid Rueda is strongly rooted in visual elements of Mexico’s rich heritage. Farid combines colorful kaleidoscopic forms with local animals and pre-Hispanic figures as a way to celebrate Mexican culture. In Theft and Love, a lion and an eagle are fused together as a reference to pre-Hispanic gods.
“I want the museum visitors to feel a little bit of Mexico in their hearts.” / Farid Rueda
