Leon Keer
(NLD)Shards of Memories
now on view
Leon Keer observes a great sense of powerlessness and an accompanying level of indifference in individuals. He is continuously aware of the battle between beauty and ugliness, a contrast that he sees as a metaphor for every human life. His paintings depict his thoughts and confront the viewer with the sick zeitgeist, where visible decay clashes with a timeless yearning for unspoiled beauty.
“The events of the past remain like shards in the present. We would rather not be reminded of past adversities, but we should certainly cherish them to learn from them and reflect on them to make the right choices for building nicer memories in the future. The shards are gathered in a transparent plastic bag to make the memories visible and preserve them.” Leon Keer
