The abstraction of letters is crucial in the evolution of Bims. The French artist began painting graffiti that faithfully followed the original New York style of lettering. Over time, however, he developed a powerful abstract style that plays with shapes and gradients. With Point of Calm, the level of abstraction is almost meditative. The soft color palette and subtle variations in forms and hues offer a temporary respite from urban noise.

“My work doesn’t have any message. I like to paint contemplative things, for viewers to enjoy a bit of calm in a world when they are surrounded by messages everywhere, more or less relevant, mainly boring. We need some silence sometimes.” / Bims
