Binho Ribeiro painting Amsterdam floating dreams Straat International Street Art Museum

Binho Ribeiro

(Brazil, 1971)

*This work is currently not on display

In the center of Amsterdam floating dreams, we see a carp, a recurring motif in Binho’s work. In Japanese culture, this fish is viewed as a true warrior because it swims against the current. In the background of this painting, Amsterdam Central Station is partly submerged and enveloped in an apocalyptic sky. With this work, Binho wants us to think about the dramatic consequences of global warming.
