Belin

(Spain)

Miguel Ángel Belinchón Bujes, also known as Belin, is a self-taught visual artist who is considered one of the most relevant urban painters in Europe. He is globally known for his mastery of spray paint on colossal murals without using stencils, projectors, or grids, and he is the creator of Postneocubism. His works are present in major cities around the world.

“By immersing myself in the essence of classicism and redefining its limits, I aim to challenge aesthetic conventions. The original painting by El Greco is a masterful representation of a knight in armor. I’m using my Postneocubist style to transform it into a contemporary man. By blending geometric contours with expressionist strokes, I’m hoping to create a unique visual synthesis that celebrates the complexity of human identity, while simultaneously inviting the viewer to reflect on the timelessness of art and its evolution.” / Belin

This artwork was created for our DUO exhibition. This exhibition was conceived by SUSO33 in collaboration with Santiago Herrero, director of Cultural and Scientific Relations for the Spanish Agency for International Development & Cooperation. The exhibition has been carefully curated by SUSO33 and STRAAT's head curator, David Roos. Click here for more info on DUO.

TelmoMiel (NL) and Belin (ESP) discuss their contributions to DUO. TelmoMiel and Belin worked side by side to each create a piece for the theme Artistic Legacies.
